That's a strange name...

Here at Gnome on the run, we focus on collaborating and developing solutions that work. We are concerned with your business, your goals, and reaching them.

And we love doing it.

We believe most web development businesses worry about the wrong things. We see ourselves as more than a web development studio, more like a business development studio. Our focus is primarily on you and your needs, not on getting a project, rushing to complete it, and moving on to the next.

So why the name Gnome on the run?  Simple put, because it fits.  Gnomes are little garden ornaments, you may be thinking.  Truth is gnomes are the hard-to-detect keepers of the garden.  You don't see them working, but you can see the fruits of their labor. That is where the gnome part comes from, because we think its our job to be keepers of the web but your visitors shouldn't need to think about what to do. We realized how important it is to be quick and agile with the speed of today's business and technology, so that is where 'on the run' comes in. Put it all together, and we think you'll find a new appreciation for the name that we have.

We like to think of ourselves as revolutionaries in this business, and we are fighting many of the conventional techniques that we think no longer have a place in our line of work.  It is a delicate balance, because its important to ensure that the new technologies are supported by your users.

Our story

Gnome on the run was the evolution of the freelance business of Jeremy Wilken, the founder, who began working with the web sometime in the 90s. Having done a lot of part time client work, he decided to make a full time job out of it. He worked a lot with several clients, mostly specializing in open source CMS platforms like Joomla and Wordpress, but also providing custom Flash applications, brochures and design work, and custom programs. His vision is the foundation for what Gnome on the run is today.

In late 2008, Jeremy took a more serious approach and began Gnome on the run. In mid-2009, he took the business full time and has worked with clients from around the world, and from non-profits to small businesses to Fortune 100 companies. For some time, Jeremy and Gnome on the run was engaged in a full time contract. However in mid-2011 that concluded and some new services were added. Video production and analytics/conversion optimization were added to the list of services, as well as new investments were made in local projects.

Gnome on the run is now a company poised to grow, as it aims to provide comprehensive services to the Houston Texas area, specifically the Clear Lake area. We are also keeping an eye out for talented people to join, so please contact us if you think you'd be a good fit.
