Joomla Traning Services

I often get requests for training for Joomla!, and I don't really do this kind of work myself. There are several great resources out there, some free and some paid. This is not a definitive list, but it certainly can give you some direction. I am don't represent any of the services, but they do seem to target different kinds of users.

Video Training by Lynda.com

Lynda.com is a website providing high quality video tutorials on a wide range of subjects, not just Joomla!.  Its a great resource for someone who learns well by seeing and can quickly pick up the information covered. There are a couple videos for Joomla, as well as many on related subjects such as Adobe Creative Suites, PHP, Designing, and much more.

Joomla Training by Alledia

Joomla Training is brought to you by Alledia, a leading Joomla! based company. They offer classes and workshops around the US regularly, and sometimes provide sessions at different levels for users who need the basics or more advanced training.  Dates are added regularly, so keep to date with the offerings.

JUGs (Joomla User Groups)

Many cities or regions across the world have a Joomla User Group established. Not all of them are listed here, but you can see a list on Joomla.org. These are great for people who need a push and want to network. Often groups meet monthly and provide some kind of training/discussion session. Each group has their own rules and does their own thing, so you'll have to contact your local group for better details.

Joomla Docs

There is a lot of information on the Joomla wiki, not always everything you want or wish it had, but by now it has evolved into a fairly large collection of information. The problem with a wiki is that things aren't organized into a kind of training course, but for the quick learner, its a great place to reference. In fact, I dare say its probably the single best place for you to keep referencing as you start, even if you use another training option.

Joomla for Beginners

Joomla for Beginners is a website providing a wide collection of training resources, some videos, podcast, articles, and more. It may provide you with addtional suppliementary information on extensions and other specific Joomla! topics. Likely to benefit users with some background, but can be useful for anyone.

Joomlashack University

The folks over at Joomlashack have put together their Joomlashack University for Joomla. It provides a full course for users and many other features, such as a free template and forum access. They offer a sample video as well, probably best for users with little or no experience.

Joomla! Fast Track

If you are looking for an online class where you connect with the students and the teacher, then try Joomla! Fast Track. You can see there are a lot of positive comments about the course, it sounds like fun, and the instructor is heavily involved with Joomla, so you know you can trust her guidance.

Joomla Resources

There are many more than this, so if you have a favorite leave a comment below and I'll update the post with quality training sites.
